Calgary and Banff

In the fall of 2010 we made two trips to Alberta.  The weather was warm and balmy for September.  We stayed one night in Calgary at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel, a beautiful old hotel, close to the 8th Avenue Mall and the Calgary Tower.

The next day after a short drive that took us through the foothills and into the Rocky Mountains we arrived at Banff.  After checking into the Delta Royal Canadian Lodge we travelled to the top of Sulfur Mountain on the Banff Gondola.  The price was $30.00 per person.  Beautiful views and once at the top you could walk to the top of Sanson Peak for a 360 degree view.  Once back down the mountain a short walk across the parking lot brought us to the Banff Upper Hot Springs.  Adult price was $7.30.  If you didn’t bring your suit or towel these can be rented there, they even have vintage style suits!  I prefer visiting hot springs in the winter, but it was still a wonderful way to spend some time.

A shout out to DJ Goose-GooseTronics, aka Angus MacLean who can be found spinning discs in some Banff hot spots and The Balkan Restaurant, a great place for Greek food in Banff.
